Risk scores are calculated using three signals: model age vs the provider's average release cadence (e.g. OpenAI historically replaces models every 12–18 months), whether a named successor model has been announced, and current community migration signals from tracked articles and GitHub repositories. A Criticalrating means the model has exceeded its provider's typical lifecycle window — it may continue operating, but relying on it in production without an upgrade path is an unhedged risk.
